JAPAN 80 Collection
ABBA arrived in Tokyo on March 9, 1980, after leaving Sweden on March 8. Their arrival was met with overwhelming fanfare, with around 100 photographers storming through a wall of 200 policemen to catch a glimpse of the band at Tokyo's Narita Airport.
The New Otani Hotel in Tokyo became their base, but they were virtually prisoners inside, unable to move freely due to the intense pressure from fans and media.
During their stay, ABBA performed 11 concerts across Japan, with six sold out shows at Tokyo's celebrated Nippon Budokan Hall. Only a few acts, like the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan, had sold out this prestigious venue to the same extent as ABBA.
The Japanese performances closely mirrored their North American and European shows from the previous year, with minor changes, including singing parts of "I Have A Dream" in Japanese. Their performance at the Budokan on 27 March was their last live performance on what would prove to be their last tour.
Let's dive deeper into the collection. Made from high-quality, mid-weight polyester with a subtle, luxurious sheen, the ABBA JAPAN 80 tour jacket is as durable as it is stylish. The navy version features bold striped ribbed cuffs, collar, and hem, while the burgundy option offers a classic look with solid navy ribbing for a sophisticated contrast. Both styles include a full zip front for versatility and comfort, making it an essential layering piece for any wardrobe.
ABBA Japan 80 oversized hoodie combines timeless design with modern comfort. Made from a soft cotton-polyester blend, it offers a relaxed, oversized fit perfect for layering—downsize for a more tailored look.
The ABBA Japan 80 oversized t-shirts features the updated backstage pass print on the back, complemented by a subtle Japan 80 logo on the chest for understated sophistication.
And finally, our ABBA JAPAN 80 tote bag is crafted from durable fabric, the tote bag features a unique double-sided print: one side showcases a reimagined version of the backstage pass, while the other lists the tour’s memorable concert dates and venues.
