The ABBA in Japan collection is inspired by the North America, Europe & Japan tour in 1979-1980 – ABBA’s third concert tour. It took off in Alberta, Canada, on September 13th 1979, and closed in Tokyo, Japan on March 27th, 1980, containing 52 shows in 40 cities, across 13 countries. It came to be the last tour before ABBA unofficially broke up in 1982.

This kimono is a replica of Agnetha’s stage costume designed by Owe Sandström for the Japan tour in 1980. Sandström wanted to create something where Japanese and Swedish cultures meet, and decided to use a classic Japanese kimono design decorated with objects from the Swedish flora. For this pattern, Sandström used the shape of “hundkäx” – an umbrella-like and fragile midsummer flower.

The ABBA Agnetha kimono is available in S/M (European size 36-38) and L/XL (European size 40-42).
